Conference History
The International Conference on Applied Sciences, Information and Technology (ICo-ASCNITech) is a premier academic event rooted in a strategic bilateral agreement established in 2017. It represents a collaborative initiative between Politeknik Negeri Padang (PNP), Indonesia, and Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan (PIS), Malaysia, designed as a multidisciplinary sharing platform to disseminate cutting-edge research in applied sciences, technology, engineering, and computer science. The inaugural edition, initially named the International Conference of Applied Science on Engineering, Business, Linguistics, and Information Technology, was successfully held in October 2017 in Padang, Indonesia. To ensure equitable academic impact and institutional visibility, the conference implemented a geographical rotation system, alternating the host country between Indonesia and Malaysia.
A significant structural evolution occurred during the 3rd edition in 2019. To accommodate an exponentially growing volume of submissions and to preserve methodological depth, the conference was bifurcated. Research pertaining to hard engineering, advanced technology, and computational sciences was retained under the ICo-ASCNITech nomenclature. Conversely, disciplines encompassing social sciences, business management, linguistics, and humanities were spun off into a parallel conference known as the International Conference on Applied Social Sciences, Business and Humanity (ICo-ASCNITY). Since then, ICo-ASCNITech has been purely oriented towards the advancement of hard engineering and computational sciences.
Despite severe interruptions during the global COVID-19 pandemic between 2020 and 2021, the conference demonstrated remarkable intellectual resilience. It successfully reconvened in 2022 with its 4th edition in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, adapting to the new normal and emphasizing sustainable Industrial Revolution 4.0. Entering the latter half of the decade, ICo-ASCNITech permanently adopted a hybrid format, integrating both in-person and virtual participation.
